Love One Another

The church can put on light shows and have some rocking hymn music.  The church can have great speakers and build inviting facilities.  The church can send out flyers and pronounce their church services across billboards.  The church can do a lot of things to get people to know that we are all about Jesus; however, if we forget to do one thing Jesus told us to do, we won’t attract as many as we hope to.

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:34-35)

As a church plant, we are thinking about all the things I mentioned above to attract people to the church.  We long for people to come into our community so that they may hear and believe in the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  Granted, we don’t have electric guitars or light shows, but we do have a major focus on missional communities.

There is nothing wrong with advertising for your church.  Redemption City hands out gift bags during our Sunday services, and we use this website to show people what we are about.  However, if we were to only focus on those outside the church, they would never know who we were if we didn’t already love one another in the church.  I thank God for those who already have become interested in our church because of how our members support one another.  As we grow, I pray our focus will remain on loving others so that those outside the church will see us as disciples of Jesus.
